Women in the ALP

NSW Labor is committed to getting better outcomes for women.

NSW Labor is assisting women from all backgrounds to become more active in political life to provide greater focus on how government’s affect women.

Labor Women’s Forum

The Labor Womens’ Forum works to increase membership and involvement of women at all levels of the ALP. To achieve this, the Labor Women’s Forum organise a variety of opportunities for women members of the party – from training workshops to social events.

The Labor Women’s Forum provides the opportunity for women to create both formal and informal party links, fostering involvement in the ALP. A proactive approach is taken by the Labor Women’s Forum in transferring skills and providing support to all women within the ALP.

Highlights of the past 18 months for the Labor Women’s Forum include:

  • Maxine McKew Federal Election Fundraising Dinner
  • Party Training and Public Speaking seminars in Parramatta, the Illawarra, the Central Coast and Queanbeyan;
  • Labor Women’s Forum Networking Breakfast with special guest the then Shadow Attorney General Nicola Roxon; and
  • Christmas Drinks held in conjunction with the Young Labor Women’s Network.

Young Labor Women’s Network

The Labor Women’s Forum works in conjunction with the Young Labor Women’s Network to support young women’s participation in the party. International Women’s Day March is always a feature of the Young Labor Women’s Network calendar.
