Full of exciting special events, the Party Calendar will give you the chance to connect with other Labor members from across NSW. The events are designed to give you more opportunity to mingle with Labor Leaders and Ministers.
New Members Evenings
As an introduction to NSW Labor you can’t beat New Members Evenings. Hosted at NSW State Parliament, they are attend by Labor Parliamentarians and the Premier. The Party Officials will also be on hand to help you get more involved in NSW Labor.
New Members Evenings are held throughout the year so keep your eye on the Upcoming Events for your opportunity to attend.
Conferences
Each year there are two important Conferences across the Party Calendar; NSW Labor Annual Conference and Country Labor Conference, and once every three years, National Conference. The weekends are full of dynamic policy debate. Delegates are elected from Affilated Unions, SECs and FECs. All Party members are welcome to attend as an Observer.
Are you Under 26? Young Labor also holds a Mid-Year, Annual and Country Conference you can participate in. Young Labor Conferences are an excellent way to introduce yourself to Party activities. By getting involved your ideas will help shape NSW Labor Youth Policy and you will be part of the largest Youth Movement in Australia.
McKell Dinner & Awards
Members are the lifeblood of NSW Labor. Many dedicate endless hours of their time to the Labor Movement. Launched in 2001, the McKell Dinner and Awards honour the invaluable contribution of Party Members to the cause.
Named after the popular and successful NSW Premier Wiliam McKell, who later become Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia the evening also is a great evening for Party Members, Parliamentarians, Labor Leaders and former Leaders to come together. Country Labor Dinner
As one of the highlights of Country Labor Conference you will have a thoroughly enjoyable time at the Country Labor Dinner. Members travel from all over the State, from the Tweed River, from Balranald and the southern slopes together to celebrate Labor’s proud history of representing Country NSW.
At the Country Labor Dinner the “Bluey Rodwell” Award is presented to a member who has performed admirable service to Country Labor.
Central Policy Branch
Do you enjoy stimulating forums, questions and debates? Then attending Central Policy Branch is a must for you. Each month a new policy area is explored with expert guest speakers. You can become a member of the Central Policy Branch or attend as a visitor if you are a member of your local Branch.
Don’t worry if you can’t make it—you’ll be able to enjoy the Central Policy Branch via webcast at your convenience.
'Light on the Hill' Dinner
Help celebrate the life, Prime Ministership and birthday of Ben Chifley at the Annual 'Light on the Hill' Dinner. The Light on Hill embodies the objective of the Labor Party to better the lives of working families. As home town of the former Prime Minister, Bathurst plays host to this special occasion.
Each year a special guest honours the Light on the Hill. Some of the past special guest speakers include former Prime Ministers Gough Whitlam, Bob Hawke and Paul Keating, and former ACTU Secretary and current Parliamentary Secretary Greg Combet.
