Jodi McKay MP

Member for Newcastle

Minister for Minister for Tourism, Minister for the Hunter, Minister for Science and Medical Research and Minister for Women.

Jodi McKay was appointed Minister for Tourism and Minister for the Hunter in September 2008, following her election as Member for Newcastle in 2007.

Jodi brings a wealth of experience across a number of fields to the position. Prior to her election to Parliament she was a journalist – presenting the nightly news on NBN Newcastle for more than a decade as well as hosting a radio program. Jodi has also been an active member of important Hunter industry groups including spending time as a Director of the Hunter Manufacturer’s Association and has experience in working with the industry to bring jobs and investment to the region. As a former Director of both the Hunter Medical Research Institute and The University of Newcastle Research Associates, Jodi has a commitment to building on the Hunter’s already strong reputation as a research hub.

Since her election as the Member for Newcastle, Jodi has had a strong focus on improving infrastructure and services and now, as Minister for the Hunter, that focus will include the whole region. Jodi brings a fresh approach and new ideas to her new responsibilities in the Government team.
