Ducks next in O'Farrell and Shooters' firing line
The O'Farrell Government will reintroduce duck hunting and establish laws to stop protests against hunters - as part of its dirty deal with the Shooters and Fishers Party to pass its electricity privatisation Bill.
"The Shooters and Fishers Party has given the game away – the O'Farrell Government will reintroduce duck hunting in NSW and introduce laws to stop protests against hunters as part of its dirty deal with the minor party," Opposition Leader, John Robertson said today.
The Shooters and Fishers Party website reveals the deal:
"The State will introduce a new adaptive model of duck and quail management before the end of the year."
"The legislation will also introduce protections for hunters to prevent harassment from protesters."

"Bob Carr banned duck hunting in NSW in 1995 – but Barry O'Farrell is declaring open season on ducks because of this deal with the Shooters and Fishers," Mr Robertson said.
"The O'Farrell Government had already given the green light to shooters taking over our pristine national parks, and now he is opening up our wetlands and lakes to duck hunters."
Shadow Environment Minister, Luke Foley said: "The Premier is trampling over decades of conservation gains with his dodgy deal with the Shooters and Fishers Party."
"Twenty years ago our lakes and wetlands were often scenes of mayhem during the duck hunting season, and this is all set to return under Barry O'Farrell.
"The idea that the O'Farrell Government would introduce legislation to protect hunters - armed with rifles – from peaceful protestors is nothing short of a farce.
"The O'Farrell Government has swung the pendulum so far to the side of the shooters, the residents of NSW have a right to be concerned about where we will end up."
The revelations follow the announcement that hunting will now be allowed in national parks – despite promises to the contrary by the Premier last year.
"We have no intention of doing deals with the minor parties….There will not be a decision to turn our national parks into hunting reserves."
