Robert Furolo has lived locally for many years and is the proud father of two beautiful children who attend one of our local public schools.

He was born in Sydney to migrant parents and grew up in the western suburbs where he completed his schooling before entering the workforce.

Robert's career started in the transport industry where he gained experience in small business operations and management. He later moved on to sales and marketing before entering a management training program with McDonald's in the ACT. After returning to Sydney, he commenced studies in economics and industrial relations.

Robert began his career in the Public Service in 1994, as an Electorate Officer to a Member of the NSW Parliament. He continued in this role for five years until he was promoted to the position of Senior Advisor to a NSW State Government Minister. In this role Robert developed a high level of experience in the formulation of Government policy, processes of Government and the Parliamentary system.

During this period, Robert successfully contested Local Government Elections, standing as a Councillor for the West Ward division of Canterbury City Council. He served in this role from 1999, including 12 months as Deputy Mayor. He won the position of popularly elected Mayor in March 2004, becoming the youngest ever person to hold this position

Robert was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the Member for Lakemba on Saturday 18 October, 2007.

He continues to serve as the Mayor of the City of Canterbury and Member for Lakemba and he is proud to be part of the NSW Labor Shadow Cabinet as the Shadow Minister for Roads & Ports and the Shadow Minister for Citizenship & Communities
